172 Huron Project / Installation in a House in collaboration with Tara Ernst / 2009

In the summer of 2009, Tara Ernst and I collaborated on an installation in which we transformed a house in Toronto’s Chinatown into an exhibition. All rooms were set up in ways reminiscent of the work of Andrei Tarkovsky or Wong Kar-Wai. Projections and sounds provided a context for Chinese and East European immigrants living in the house. Visitors were able to walk around in the house and backyard experiencing a surreal setting. The Installation was up for only six hours, involving a moment of standing still, and of being removed from the reality of one’s own daily life.
